Sony Picks Up SKYWARD Movie Adaptation from Director Brad Peyton
Another day, another comic book movie enters development. According to Variety, Sony Pictures has picked up the film rights to Image Comics’ Skyward, an original graphic novel by Lucifer showrunner Joe Henderson. Henderson is also writing the movie script, which will be directed by Rampage‘s Brad Peyton. Peyton gave the following statement on the announcement. “[Producer] Jeff [Fierson] and I are focused on making event films – regardless of budget or scope. Skyward is a big one. We’re very excited to deliver on what an anti-gravity movie should deliver on and be working with Joe Henderson on this.” Skyward depicts a reality where people have lived in low-gravity for 20 years.…

Sony Bringing VENOM and SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE to San Diego Comic-Con 2018
Marvel Studios is skipping Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con next month, but the convention will still be getting some other movie goodness, courtesy of Sony Pictures. According to Deadline, Sony is bringing Venom and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse to Hall H. The panel is said to be scheduled for Friday, July 20th at 6:15 PM. No details on who from those movies will be that panel, or how much new footage to expect. DC Entertainment has finally shared some details on its upcoming streaming service, DC Universe. And based on the announcement, it sounds like a must for any DC fan. Jared Leto to Play Morbius the Living Vampire in Movie Directed by Daniel Espinosa
Among the Marvel movies in development at Sony has been Morbius the Living Vampire, based on the Spider-Man villain/antihero of the same name. The film recruited screenwriters Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama a few months ago, but since then, we haven’t heard a lot of news about it. Now, we have some big news. It’s been a crazy few weeks for the Master of Form III. Hot on the heels of Lucasfilm’s retooling efforts, the internet is alight with fresh rumors about a fan-favorite Jedi Master. The Sun reports that Ewan McGregor will cameo as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: Episode IX. This isn’t the first time such a rumor has run the mill. However, the J.J. Abrams directed film starts principal photography next month, so the timetable for signing McGregor fits with recent reports.
