This year has seen some major movements on Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson as Marvel Studios’ first lead female hero. Directing duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck were hired to take the helm, while Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his role as Nick Fury. The late Adam West’s final performance as the Caped Crusader is in this fall’s animated movie, Batman vs. Two-Face. The film pits Batman and Robin against Two-Face, voiced by William Shatner. We saw the trailer recently, and now, we have more information. Batman vs. Two-Face will hit digital platforms on Tuesday, October 10th, with the Blu-Ray/DVD coming a week later on October 17th. Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury played a crucial role in the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recruiting Iron Man and the other heroes for his “Avengers Initiative.” The last time we saw Fury, the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D. popped up in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron to once again assist our heroes. We briefly met Dr. Silas Stone (played by Joe Morton) in the Justice League cameo montage in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, where he was recording his efforts to save his son, Victor. The clip ended with a first glimpse of Victor’s transformation into Cyborg. Dr. Stone will be returning in this fall’s Justice League and the eventual Cyborg movie. Another day, another box office milestone achieved by Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. The critically acclaimed reboot crossed the $300 million domestic mark the other day, and this weekend, it’s reached a key worldwide benchmark. According to Box Office Mojo, Homecoming made an estimated $6.1 million this weekend in North America, ranking at #7 in the week’s top ten. This brings its domestic total to $306.5 million, with its its international total at $395.6 million. Its worldwide total is now $702.1 million, bringing the movie past the coveted $700 million mark. Sony is moving forward with its slate of Spider-Man-based films, which (as of right now anyways) aren’t actually connected to Spider-Man and aren’t in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Following next fall’s Venom, Sony will release Silver and Black, which teams up Silver Sable with Black Cat. Now, we have a release date. Sony has announced that Silver and Black will hit theaters on February 8th, 2019. This makes it the first comic book movie of that year; Fox previously set an untitled Marvel movie for the week after on February 15th. Production will begin sometime this fall.
