THE FLASH Casts Katee Sackhoff in Recurring Villain Role
We’re only a few weeks away from the premiere of The Flash‘s fourth season on The CW. Today, we have some major casting news for a new recurring villain, while we also have confirmation of a major Arrow character returning. According to Entertainment Weekly, Battlestar Galactica alum Katee Sackhoff has joined The Flash as DC villain Amunet Black, aka Blacksmith. The character is described as “a steely and badass boss of an underground black market for supervillains. Will IRON FIST Finally Get His Costume in Season 2?
One of the biggest criticisms surrounding Marvel and Netflix’s Iron Fist was the lack of a costume for Danny Rand. He didn’t get one in The Defenders either. SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Reaching $725 Million Worldwide This Week
Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming has been doing very well at the box office, easily surpassing the Amazing franchise in North America. And now, the latest reboot is passing them worldwide. Per Box Office Mojo, Homecoming has grossed an estimated $314.1 million domestically and $410.8 million overseas as of this weekend. This brings its worldwide total to $724.9 million. The movie recently opened in Japan, while it hits China next month. So, the film’s theatrical run is still going strong. Homecoming has now surpassed the previous Spidey flick, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ($709 million). Wonder Woman has been going strong for over two months in its theatrical run, boasting legs unlike any other recent comic book movie. FX Acquires TV Rights to LOGAN and SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING
FX has been on a roll with acquiring the rights to air big blockbuster movies on television. This week, the network added several more movies, including two of this year’s comic book movies. According to Deadline, FX has acquired the rights to Logan, the critically acclaimed swansong for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and Spider-Man: Homecoming, the new Sony/Marvel reboot of the Webhead. Both movies are among the year’s biggest hits so far; Logan made $616 million worldwide, while Spider-Man has made $706.4 million and counting. After Wonder Woman‘s huge success, Warner Bros. quickly put a sequel into development. Diana Prince’s next standalone adventure will release on December 13th, 2019. Ben Affleck’s Batman will return in this fall’s Justice League, following his debut in last year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad.
