SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Sequel Gets a Title
While we keep waiting for that Avengers 4 title, it looks like we already know what the next Spider-Man movie will be called. On Instagram, Tom Holland posted a video saying that he didn’t have any announcements whatsoever…only to leak the Homecoming sequel’s title in classic Tom Holland fashion. The sequel is titled Spider-Man: Far From Home. The film will see Peter Parker travel around the world and outside of New York, so this title makes sense. In this film (set after Avengers 4), Spidey will face off against Mysterio, who may be played by Jake Gyllenhaal. Actors Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, and Zendaya are also returning from Homecoming. Sorry…

James Wan Reportedly Set to Co-Direct SWAMP THING Pilot
Last month, it was announced that DC is developing a new Swamp Thing show for its upcoming streaming service, DC Universe. One very interesting thing is that it is being executive produced by James Wan, who directs DC Films’ next title, Aquaman. Now, it looks like Wan will have another role to play. According to That Hashtag Show, Wan is on board to direct the Swamp Thing pilot alongside Deran Sarafian. While Sarafian doesn’t have the blockbuster experience than Wan has, he has a history of directing for television, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer and House. Swamp Thing has been ordered for 13 episodes. The show will begin production later…

FEATURE: Rotten Tomatoes was WRONG and Netflix’s Live-Action DEATH NOTE Film is Actually Amazing
If you’re reading this on a desktop, the song “Reckless (Don’t Be So…)” by Australian Crawl should have begun to play. If you’re on a mobile device, you’ll have to click the play button to hear those dulcet tones. This song is the opener in Adam Wingard’s Death Note. Wingard has had a productive career, reaching notoriety with the horror films You’re Next, V/H/S, and Blair Witch. He’s also set to direct Godzilla vs. Kong, this October, for a 2020 release date. To say Death Note was in his wheelhouse is an understatement. But the fan reaction to the film was nothing short of toxic. Rotten Tomatoes critics weren’t a…

New Report Clarifies Lucasfilm’s Current Approach to STAR WARS Spinoffs
The box office failure of Solo: A Star Wars Story was a surprise, and it led to much speculation on how Disney and Lucasfilm will tackle future films…if they’re even made at all. A report this week claimed that the story spinoffs, revolving around characters like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Boba Fett, are being put on hold while Lucasfilm focuses on other films. Lucasfilm later downplayed the report. Now, we have some clarification. According to The Hollywood Reporter‘s sources, Lucasfilm isn’t slowing down development on the Star Wars spinoffs per say. Rather, Kathleen Kennedy and co. are reassessing how to make and market them. For example, the Boba Fett movie –…

Sony has been working on building its own Marvel Universe, using characters based on Spider-Man lore outside of its deal with Marvel Studios. Venom kicks things off this fall, with Silver & Black (starring Silver Sable and Black Cat) in development. Movies starring Nightwatch and Morbius the Living Vampire are also in the works. Now, we can add a new title to the slate. According to trades such as The Wrap, Spider-Man supporting character Silk is getting her own movie. While no writer or director is attached yet, Amy Pascal is on board as a producer. The film will be part of Sony’s Marvel Universe. Created in 2014, Cindy Moon is…

FEATURE: The Wrestling Streaming World Tour Part Four
FEATURE: The Wrestling Streaming World Tour Part Four Japan Welcome back, time to talk about Japanese pro wrestling or as it’s called by fans of Japanese wrestling; Puroresu. I should get this out of the way. I LOVE Japanese wrestling. I love the athleticism, I love the sports-like feel, and I love the tradition. Also, there’s a lot of promotions in Japan, nearly fifty. And a lot of them have some sort of streaming service or a channel on YouTube or Twitch and if we start talking about bootleg streams… *ahem* that number gets even higher. So, I have to be really selective. (My personal favorite promotion, Pro Wrestling NOAH…

I Lost a Bet and Had to Watch BATMAN AND HARLEY QUINN. Hold Me While I Sob…
Have you ever made a bet? That intuition fueled guessing game that delivers the instant satisfaction of being right, or makes you fall flat on your face? I don’t make bets often; but when I do, they’re always with a purpose. In this particular instance, I made a bet with fellow WOBAM contributor Isak Wolff: if Son Goku was announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, he had to review the John Goodman-starring Myst parody, PYST; if Son Goku wasn’t announced for Smash Bros., then I had to review Batman and Harley Quinn. You can guess who lost that bet. When WOBAM’s’s very own Paul Romano reviewed Batman and Harley Quinn,…
