Warner Bros. Announces Start of Production for WONDER WOMAN 1984
Warner Bros. has announced today that the highly anticipated Wonder Woman sequel has begun production. The press release offers a lot of new details, such as the title and the return of a key character. The new movie is titled Wonder Woman 1984, confirming rumors of its 1980s setting. The studio has also confirmed that Chris Pine will reprise his role in the sequel, despite his death in the first movie. Director Patty Jenkins shared a first-look photo on Twitter. It’s been a few months, and DC Films’ Justice League has come and gone. The film received lukewarm reviews and underperformed at the box office; in fact, Warner Bros. lost money on it. Geoff Johns Shifting to New Role for Warner Bros. and DC; Will Write GREEN LANTERN CORPS Movie
Comic book writer Geoff Johns was appointed as DC Entertainment’s Chief Creative Officer in 2010, before being hired as a President in 2016. Today, Johns is exiting those roles, but that doesn’t mean he’s totally leaving Warner Bros. or DC. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johns has signed a new exclusive deal for writing and producing with WB and DC. It’s been a while since we got an update on the Suicide Squad sequel. Originally set to begin production this fall, the film was pushed back to accommodate for Harley Quinn spinoff Birds of Prey. But now, we have word of two new writers who have been added to the team. A few months ago, Diane Nelson, president of DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, took an unexpected leave of absence. She cited family-related issues for her break. BIRDS OF PREY Movie Rumored to Include Huntress
It was recently confirmed that DC is moving forward with a Birds of Prey movie, starring Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and directed by Cathy Yan. It was previously reported that a LEGO video game starring DC villains is in the works. And now, it has been announced. TT Games and LEGO have formally announced their latest collaboration, LEGO DC Super-Villains. The open-world game puts the spotlight on the DC Universe’s greatest villains, from Joker and Lex Luthor to Reverse-Flash and Deathstroke. In this story, the Justice League has disappeared, leaving Earth in the hands of the mysterious Justice Syndicate.
