HBO’s WATCHMEN Sets Main Cast
We’re getting closer and closer to the latest take on Watchmen, which is being overseen by Damon Lindelof at HBO. This week, the network announced the primary cast for the show. Per TV Line, Watchmen will star Regina King (The Leftovers), Don Johnson (Miami Vice), Louis Gossett Jr. (Roots), Tim Blake Nelson (The Incredible Hulk), Adelaide Clemens (The Great Gatsby), and Andrew Howard (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.). Arrow and The Flash have finished their seasons, with Supergirl still going for a few more weeks. All three shows are returning for new seasons in the fall, and inevitably, that means new characters. DC’s next animated title is The Death of Superman, the latest adaptation of the Man of Steel’s deadliest battle in comics. Today, Warner Bros. GOTHAM Showrunner Developing Alfred Pennyworth TV Show at Epix
It was recently confirmed that Fox’s Gotham will return for a fifth and final season next year. But showrunner Bruno Heller has already lined up his next big project, and it too is based on Batman lore. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Heller is developing the prequel series Pennyworth at Epix, which has made a 10-episode straight-to-series order. DOOM PATROL Series in the Works at DC Universe
Later this year, DC Entertainment will launch its long-awaited streaming service, DC Universe. The platform will be home to several original shows, such as Titans, Swamp Thing, Metropolis, and the animated shows Harley Quinn and Young Justice: Outsiders. Now, a sixth show has been revealed. DC has announced that a Doom Patrol series is in development at DC Universe. The service made a 13-episode straight-to-series order. Production will begin this year for a 2019 release. THE GIFTED Shifts to Tuesday Nights Next Fall; GOTHAM’s Final Season Held Until Midseason
Fox has unveiled its schedule for the 2018-2019 season, just in time for its Upfronts presentation. X-Men-inspired drama The Gifted will air on Tuesdays at 8 PM EST for its second season. The show previously aired on Mondays at 8. The series was renewed earlier this year in the midst of its well-received first season. Last night, Fox renewed DC’s Gotham for a fifth and final season. SHAZAM! Officially Wraps Production
After many years of development, New Line Cinema’s Shazam! finally began production earlier this year. And now, the next installment of DC Films’ universe is officially in the can. Director David F. Sandberg has confirmed on Twitter that Shazam! has wrapped production. The next phase will be post-production, for which Sandberg and the team have 11 months before the film’s release.
