Welcome to a special SDCC-themed installment of TV News Bits. Here, we’ll be going over new characters joining Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow, a hit Marvel show’s renewal, and two other shows promoting characters to series regulars. Supergirl Adds 3 to Cast At San Diego Comic-Con, Supergirl announced (via KryptonSite) the addition of three characters, following Sam Witwer‘s casting. Actress Nicole Maines will play Nia Nal/Dreamer, TV’s first transgender superhero. Nia is a new addition to the CatCo reporting team, and she must embrace her destiny as the superhero Dreamer. San Diego Comic-Con 2018 TV Trailer Round-Up
A lot of television shows held their San Diego Comic-Con panels yesterday, and there, first-look trailers for the new seasons were introduced. Here, we have a round-up of all the trailers – all five DC shows on The CW, plus Fox’s X-Men drama The Gifted. Kara deals with the rise of Agent Liberty (and gets a new suit?!) on Supergirl. Oliver Queen deals with his life in jail on Arrow. The team recruits John Constantine on Legends of Tomorrow. A new mutant age rises on The Gifted. LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Won’t Be Part of the Next Arrowverse Crossover
Fans were excited to hear that this year’s annual Arrowverse crossover event will center around Batwoman and Gotham City. In fact, Batwoman is going to be the star of her own series soon. However, it looks like one show won’t be part of the event. According to Entertainment Weekly, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is sitting out this year’s crossover. The event will consist of Supergirl, Arrow, and The Flash. No reason why Legends will be absent. It’s also unclear if this rules out any Legends characters in the event or just its episode that week. Warner Bros. Television Announces DC-Heavy Presence at San Diego Comic-Con 2018
Warner Bros. Television has announced its plans for next month’s San Diego Comic-Con, and the studio is bringing most of its major DC shows to the spotlight. Everything from the Arrowverse to Krypton to Young Justice: Outsiders will be represented. Additionally, we now know when Freedom Fighters: The Ray‘s second season debuts, while we have new details on forthcoming seasons for other shows. LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Promotes Courtney Ford to Series Regular for Season 4
The Arrowverse has seen some recent cast shakeups for next season, and Legends of Tomorrow is no exception. Matt Ryan’s John Constantine and Jes Macallan’s Ava Sharpe will be series regulars for the show’s fourth season, while Keiynan Lonsdale’s Wally West is out. Now, we have another addition to the main cast. According to Deadline, Courtney Ford has been promoted to a series regular for Legends of Tomorrow season four. The CW Announces Fall 2018 Premiere Dates
The CW has unveiled its complete fall schedule, revealing when your favorite comic book shows will return to the small screen. The Flash and Black Lightning will premiere their new seasons on Tuesday, October 9th at 8 PM and 9 PM EST, respectively. Riverdale will be back on Wednesday, October 10th at 8 PM EST. Supergirl will return on Sunday, October 14th at 8 PM EST, kicking off the network’s Sunday programming. Arrow debuts on Monday, October 15th at 8 PM EST, its brand new timeslot, swapping with DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. DC Universe’s Titans is finally wrapping production soon, but before that, we have a breakdown for one more character, courtesy of That Hashtag Show. According to the site, the show is looking to cast a character with codenamed David, a 20-something male with dark hair. David is described as a powerful and merciless individual, and he is kept as a prisoner in a mysterious lab. David would have a guest starring role in the show’s 13th episode (aka season finale), but has the option to be a series regular for future seasons. Wally West Won’t Be a Series Regular on LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Next Season
Keiynan Lonsdale’s Wally West was a key supporting character on The Flash for a couple years, before leaving during its fourth season. He went on to join Legends of Tomorrow in the second half of this past season, and he was arguably a better fit there than he ever was on Flash. Unfortunately, even that has to come to an end. According to TV Line, Lonsdale will not be returning to Legends of Tomorrow season four – at least as a series regular. Next Arrowverse Crossover to Introduce Batwoman and Gotham City
Over the years, The CW’s Arrowverse crossovers have featured the likes of Captain Boomerang, Vandal Savage, an alien invasion, and even Nazi doppelgangers from another Earth. Now, in this year’s crossover event, our heroes will be meeting a new ally. Arrow star Stephen Amell announced at The CW’s Upfronts panel today (via TV Line) that the next Arrowverse crossover will introduce Kate Kane, aka Batwoman. She will fight alongside Green Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, and the Legends in another action-packed event. The crossover will air in early December. But that’s not all.
