SUPERGIRL and ARROW Shift to New Nights Next Fall, iZOMBIE Season 5 is Its Last
The CW has unveiled its fall schedule for the 2018-2019 season, ahead of its Upfronts presentation later today. The new schedule makes a couple big changes on the DC front, while we have confirmation of one show entering its final season. Supergirl is shifting from Mondays at 8 to Sundays at 8 PM EST for its fourth season, kicking off the network’s newly announced expansion to six nights a week. Arrow is moving from Thursdays at 9 to Mondays at 9 PM EST for season seven, following Legends of Tomorrow‘s fourth season at 8 PM. TV News Bits: THE WALKING DEAD, WATCHMEN, THE PUNISHER, LEGENDS OF TOMORROW, THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY
AMC’s The Walking Dead is heading into its ninth season this fall, and the show is adding two new regulars to the cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, actors Avi Nash and Callan McAuliffe have been upgraded to series regulars. The two joined the show as Siddiq and Alden, respectively, during season eight. The Walking Dead returns in October with new showrunner Angela Kang. HBO is bringing Watchmen back to life, and this news suggests it’ll happen sooner than later. According to Production Weekly (via ComicBook), the show’s working title is “Brooklyn.” This suggests that the show will be beginning production soon. Welcome to the latest installment of TV News Bits. Today, we have good news on Legion, two new regulars on Riverdale, a director for The Boys, hints at Constantine’s new role on Legends of Tomorrow, and confirmation of a character on Titans. While we’re still waiting on a renewal for Legion, fans are still getting a little more from the acclaimed FX season. Marvel has announced that an additional episode has been ordered for the show’s second season, bringing its total to 11 episodes. By comparison, the first season ran for 8 episodes. The CW Renews All Five DC Shows and RIVERDALE for Next Season
The CW has officially announced that ten of its shows have been picked up for new seasons. These include six comic book adaptations. Arrow, the show that launched the network’s Arrowverse has been renewed for a seventh season. Midseason hit Black Lightning, based on the DC comic, will be back for a second season. Fellow DC adaptations Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow will return for fourth seasons. It was previously announced that Matt Ryan’s John Constantine will be a series regular on the latter show next season. The Flash has been renewed for a fifth season.
