SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Sequel Gets a Title
While we keep waiting for that Avengers 4 title, it looks like we already know what the next Spider-Man movie will be called. On Instagram, Tom Holland posted a video saying that he didn’t have any announcements whatsoever…only to leak the Homecoming sequel’s title in classic Tom Holland fashion. The sequel is titled Spider-Man: Far From Home. The film will see Peter Parker travel around the world and outside of New York, so this title makes sense. In this film (set after Avengers 4), Spidey will face off against Mysterio, who may be played by Jake Gyllenhaal. Actors Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, and Zendaya are also returning from Homecoming. Marvel’s BLACK WIDOW Director Search Continues
After the success of Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel is planning for the future. They are moving ahead with a Black Widow solo film, starring Scarlett Johansson of course. Deadline is reporting that Cate Shortland (Berlin Syndrome) is the frontrunner to direct. We know that the film will likely be a prequel, set before the events of Iron Man 2. Deadline is also reporting that Marvel head Kevin Feige and Johansson met with Amma Asante (Belle) and Maggie Betts (Novitiate) for the directing gig. CAPTAIN MARVEL Recruits Composer Pinar Toprak
Marvel Studios’ first 2019 blockbuster, Captain Marvel, is currently in the final weeks of production. This week, we have confirmation of the composer for this movie’s score. Composer Pinar Toprak announced on Instagram that she is scoring Captain Marvel. She is the first female composer to take on a major superhero movie, Marvel or otherwise. At this point, everyone knows that a Marvel movie is going to make a ton of money. That looks to be the case with its next title, Ant-Man and The Wasp, which has hit tracking boards this week. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ant-Man and The Wasp is tracking to gross $75 million in its opening weekend. Avengers: Infinity War‘s historic opening weekend already cemented it as one of the biggest films in history, but the movie continued to perform exceptionally well every week since. Now, the Marvel Studios ensemble has reached a milestone that very few films ever have. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Infinity War has surpassed the $2 billion mark at the worldwide box office.
