At this point, everyone knows that a Marvel movie is going to make a ton of money. That looks to be the case with its next title, Ant-Man and The Wasp, which has hit tracking boards this week. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ant-Man and The Wasp is tracking to gross $75 million in its opening weekend. If the movie sticks to that, it will have a noticeably bigger opening than the first Ant-Man, which debuted with $57.2 million in 2015. AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Has Passed $2 Billion Worldwide
Avengers: Infinity War‘s historic opening weekend already cemented it as one of the biggest films in history, but the movie continued to perform exceptionally well every week since. Now, the Marvel Studios ensemble has reached a milestone that very few films ever have. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Infinity War has surpassed the $2 billion mark at the worldwide box office. This consists of $656 million domestically and $1.346 billion overseas, bringing its worldwide total to $2.002 billion. New SPIDER-MAN PS4 Gameplay Footage Introduces New Villains
During Sony’s E3 presentation last night, a new look at Marvel’s Spider-Man was shown. In the seven-minute gameplay reel, the Web-Slinger deals with a prison break, only to face a few of his greatest villains. We see Electro, Rhino, Vulture, Scorpion, and Negative Man unite to take on Spidey, with hints at a sixth villain behind the scenes. We’re less than a month away from the release of Marvel’s next blockbuster, Ant-Man and The Wasp, and marketing is in full swing. This week’s issue of Empire adds to the promotion, featuring the movie as the cover story. In addition to the primary cover, Empire will release a subscribers-exclusive cover drawn by Marvel Studios concept artist Andy Park. DC Universe’s Titans is finally wrapping production soon, but before that, we have a breakdown for one more character, courtesy of That Hashtag Show. According to the site, the show is looking to cast a character with codenamed David, a 20-something male with dark hair. IRON FIST Season 2 Will Arrive This Year
Production recently wrapped on Iron Fist‘s second season. While a lot of details are still under wraps, it looks like the new season will be out sooner than expected. During a Reddit AMA, Marvel television head Jeph Loeb confirmed that Iron Fist season two is “coming this year.” Netflix has already released Jessica Jones season two this year, with Luke Cage‘s second season arriving later this month. And while a date isn’t confirmed yet, it was announced previously that Daredevil season three is also coming this year. Sony has released a new trailer for its animated Spider-Man movie, Into the Spider-Verse. The film marks the big screen debut of Miles Morales, the Ultimate Spider-Man who was created in 2011. The trailer is chock full of new footage, depicting Miles being trained by an older Peter Parker. The trailer also shows off the movie’s jaw-dropping animation, new characters, and so much more. Box Office Report: SOLO Drops Big in Second Weekend, DEADPOOL 2 Nears $600 Million Worldwide
Lucasfilm’s Solo: A Star Wars Story experienced an underwhelming box office opening last weekend, making just a little over $100 million over four days. Compared to other recent Star Wars movies, that’s really low. It’s especially bad when considering the film’s $250-300 million (possibly more) budget. So, eyes are on later weeks to see how it performs. Unfortunately, if its second weekend is any indicator, it’s not looking too good. Per Box Office Mojo, Solo grossed an estimated $29.3 million this weekend. While it still retains the #1 spot, that’s a 65% drop from last week.
