Krysten Ritter Will Direct an Episode of JESSICA JONES Season 3
Season three of Marvel and Netflix’s Jessica Jones recently began production in New York City. While new plot and casting details are currently under wraps, the show’s star will be taking on a new role this season. According to Deadline, series star Krysten Ritter is directing an episode of Jessica Jones this season. This marks the actress’s directorial debut. It’s unknown which exact episode will be directed by Ritter; while unconfirmed, it’s likely that the new season will be 13 episodes long, like the first two seasons. Jared Leto to Play Morbius the Living Vampire in Movie Directed by Daniel Espinosa
Among the Marvel movies in development at Sony has been Morbius the Living Vampire, based on the Spider-Man villain/antihero of the same name. The film recruited screenwriters Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama a few months ago, but since then, we haven’t heard a lot of news about it. Now, we have some big news. Per Variety, Oscar winner Jared Leto is set to play Morbius in the movie. Safe House filmmaker Daniel Espinosa is attached to direct. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing alongside Lucas Foster. SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Sequel Gets a Title
While we keep waiting for that Avengers 4 title, it looks like we already know what the next Spider-Man movie will be called. On Instagram, Tom Holland posted a video saying that he didn’t have any announcements whatsoever…only to leak the Homecoming sequel’s title in classic Tom Holland fashion. The sequel is titled Spider-Man: Far From Home. The film will see Peter Parker travel around the world and outside of New York, so this title makes sense. In this film (set after Avengers 4), Spidey will face off against Mysterio, who may be played by Jake Gyllenhaal. Actors Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, and Zendaya are also returning from Homecoming. Spider-Man Character Silk Getting Her Own Movie at Sony
Sony has been working on building its own Marvel Universe, using characters based on Spider-Man lore outside of its deal with Marvel Studios. Venom kicks things off this fall, with Silver & Black (starring Silver Sable and Black Cat) in development. Movies starring Nightwatch and Morbius the Living Vampire are also in the works. Now, we can add a new title to the slate. According to trades such as The Wrap, Spider-Man supporting character Silk is getting her own movie. IRON FIST, KRYPTON and LUCIFER Are Returning to San Diego Comic-Con 2018
We’re a month away from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. This week, we have confirmation of three shows making their presence known at the convention. According to Deadline, Marvel and Netflix are bringing Iron Fist to SDCC. Star Finn Jones will show up alongside other cast members and producers to discuss the show’s second season, which is scheduled to arrive sometime this year. CAPTAIN MARVEL Recruits Composer Pinar Toprak
Marvel Studios’ first 2019 blockbuster, Captain Marvel, is currently in the final weeks of production. This week, we have confirmation of the composer for this movie’s score. Composer Pinar Toprak announced on Instagram that she is scoring Captain Marvel. She is the first female composer to take on a major superhero movie, Marvel or otherwise.
