Sony Picks Up SKYWARD Movie Adaptation from Director Brad Peyton
Another day, another comic book movie enters development. According to Variety, Sony Pictures has picked up the film rights to Image Comics’ Skyward, an original graphic novel by Lucifer showrunner Joe Henderson. Henderson is also writing the movie script, which will be directed by Rampage‘s Brad Peyton. Peyton gave the following statement on the announcement. “[Producer] Jeff [Fierson] and I are focused on making event films – regardless of budget or scope. Skyward is a big one. We’re very excited to deliver on what an anti-gravity movie should deliver on and be working with Joe Henderson on this.” Skyward depicts a reality where people have lived in low-gravity for 20 years.…

Sony Bringing VENOM and SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE to San Diego Comic-Con 2018
Marvel Studios is skipping Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con next month, but the convention will still be getting some other movie goodness, courtesy of Sony Pictures. According to Deadline, Sony is bringing Venom and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse to Hall H. The panel is said to be scheduled for Friday, July 20th at 6:15 PM. No details on who from those movies will be that panel, or how much new footage to expect. It’s also easy to speculate if Sony will make any further announcements on its Marvel Universe, which includes forthcoming films like Silver & Black and Morbius the Living Vampire. Jared Leto to Play Morbius the Living Vampire in Movie Directed by Daniel Espinosa
Among the Marvel movies in development at Sony has been Morbius the Living Vampire, based on the Spider-Man villain/antihero of the same name. The film recruited screenwriters Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama a few months ago, but since then, we haven’t heard a lot of news about it. Now, we have some big news. Per Variety, Oscar winner Jared Leto is set to play Morbius in the movie. Safe House filmmaker Daniel Espinosa is attached to direct. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing alongside Lucas Foster. SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Sequel Gets a Title
While we keep waiting for that Avengers 4 title, it looks like we already know what the next Spider-Man movie will be called. On Instagram, Tom Holland posted a video saying that he didn’t have any announcements whatsoever…only to leak the Homecoming sequel’s title in classic Tom Holland fashion. The sequel is titled Spider-Man: Far From Home. The film will see Peter Parker travel around the world and outside of New York, so this title makes sense. Spider-Man Character Silk Getting Her Own Movie at Sony
Sony has been working on building its own Marvel Universe, using characters based on Spider-Man lore outside of its deal with Marvel Studios. Venom kicks things off this fall, with Silver & Black (starring Silver Sable and Black Cat) in development. Movies starring Nightwatch and Morbius the Living Vampire are also in the works. Full Trailer for SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Released
Sony has released a new trailer for its animated Spider-Man movie, Into the Spider-Verse. The film marks the big screen debut of Miles Morales, the Ultimate Spider-Man who was created in 2011. The trailer is chock full of new footage, depicting Miles being trained by an older Peter Parker. The trailer also shows off the movie’s jaw-dropping animation, new characters, and so much more. Sony Officially Removes SILVER & BLACK From Release Schedule
Sony previously set Marvel spinoff Silver & Black for a February 8th, 2019 release, with the plan to shoot early this year. However, production was suddenly delayed, with director Gina Prince-Bythewood recently saying that they’re still focused on on the script. So, this threw the release date into question. Sure enough, Sony has changed up the schedule. Sony confirmed today that Silver & Black will not meet its February 2019 date, and the film is currently undated. THE CROW Remake Loses its Star and Director…Again
Another movie based on The Crow has been in development off-and-on for the past decade. This reimagining of the James O’Barr graphic novel has struggled to lock down a cast and director, with actors like Bradley Cooper and Luke Evans being attached and suddenly exiting. Most recently, Sony picked up the film, titled The Crow Reborn, with an October 2019 date set. Jason Momoa was cast as Eric Draven, with Corin Hardy hired to direct. VENOM Actor Woody Harrelson Teases Larger Role in Potential Sequel
A while back, we heard that Woody Harrelson had joined the cast of Sony’s Venom movie. Liam Neeson in Talks to Join MEN IN BLACK Spinoff
Casting is well underway for Sony’s next Men in Black movie, which expands the franchise with a new cast of characters. Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson are on board to star, with F.
