Producer Charles Roven Offers Updates on THE BATMAN and MAN OF STEEL 2
DC Films’ Justice League will unite DC’s biggest heroes, including the top two: Batman and Superman. The two characters have been scheduled to get new solo movies for a while. Matt Reeves recently took over to direct and rewrite The Batman, while a standalone Man of Steel sequel hasn’t made much movement. Now, we have updates on both movies. At San Diego Comic-Con 2017, Warner Bros. announced that its standalone Flash movie has been named Flashpoint, adapting one of DC’s biggest storylines. The original story saw Barry Allen travel back in time to save his mother, but in the process, he created a whole new timeline that was drastically different. Barry later resets the timeline, leading directly into DC’s New 52 “reboot.” It’s unknown how much from the original story will be adapted into the film. THOR: RAGNAROK is Now the Highest Grossing THOR Movie to Date
Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok is now in its second week of release in North America, and third week in other countries. The film has been earning a ton of money, no doubt fueled by glowing reviews from fans and critics. Now, the sequel has already surpassed a key milestone. According to BoxOfficeMojo, Ragnarok grossed an estimated $56.6 million in its second weekend, easily maintaining the #1 spot. Its box office intake this week has pushed the film to $650.1 million, already making it the highest grossing Thor movie to date, surpassing The Dark World‘s $645 million. BATMAN: GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT Trailer Released
IGN has premiered the trailer for DC’s next animated title, Batman: Gotham by Gaslight. An adaptation of the acclaimed Elseworlds comic, this steampunk story reimagines Gotham City in 19th century London, and Batman is pitted against Jack the Ripper. Gotham by Gaslight will see the return of Bruce Greenwood as Batman, reprising the role from Young Justice and Under the Red Hood. The voice cast also includes Jennifer Carpenter as Selina Kyle and Anthony Head as Alfred Pennyworth. Check out the trailer below, and stay tuned for more as we have it. ARROW Finally Unmasks Vigilante in This Week’s Episode
Last season, Arrow introduced a new vigilante in Star City called, well, Vigilante. Unlike Oliver Queen and his team, Vigilante resorts to lethal methods in his war on crime, and he frequently comes into conflict with our heroes. THOR: RAGNAROK Thunders Past $500 Million at Worldwide Box Office
Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok has only been out for one week in North America and a couple weeks overseas, but the sequel is already hitting some big box office benchmarks. Per Variety, the critically acclaimed movie has surpassed the $500 million mark worldwide on Wednesday. It is the 12th consecutive Marvel title to do so, and the 14th title overall. It has already surpassed the original Thor worldwide ($449 million), while it should pass The Dark World‘s $645 million very soon. ARROW Star Stephen Amell Explains Story Behind That Bruce Wayne Namedrop
The CW’s Arrowverse has made vague shoutouts to the world of Batman, but a recent episode of Arrow had the clearest reference yet. During a press conference, Oliver Queen denied being the Green Arrow, saying that the leaked photo was photoshopped. He adds, “They could’ve put Bruce Wayne’s head on that body,” before also mentioning Gotham City. This confirms once and for all that Bruce Wayne is out there somewhere in the Arrowverse, even if we never see him. Now, we know the backstory behind the namedrop.
