BLACK LIGHTNING Series Premiere Review – “The Resurrection”
Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) is a man wrestling with a secret. As the father of Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Ann McClain), and principal of a charter high school that also serves as a safe-haven for young people in a neighborhood overrun by gang violence, he is a hero in his community. Nine years ago, Pierce was a hero of a different sort. Gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, he used those powers to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning, but he left the Superhero days behind. Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he…

SUICIDE SQUAD: HELL TO PAY Trailer Released
A few days ago, we got some first-look images and the voice cast for DC’s next animated movie, Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay. Now, IGN has exclusively premiered the trailer, featuring plenty of action-packed footage and showing off Task Force X. In this movie, the Squad is tasked with acquiring a mystical object, but along the way, they come into conflict with other villains, such as Vandal Savage and Silver Banshee. The trailer also confirms that the film has been rated R for violence, sexual content, and more. Hell to Pay serves as DC’s fourth R-rated animated movie, following Batman: The Killing Joke, Justice League Dark, and next week’s Gotham…

JUSTICE LEAGUE Blu-Ray Will Include a New “Bonus” Scene
Fans have been clamoring for a director’s cut of Justice League for months, regardless of how unrealistic it is. Even if a proper Zack Snyder cut is non-existent, there are plenty of deleted scenes to add to the film, as glimpsed in the trailers. It looks like the Blu-Ray will include at least one of those scenes. Walmart has shared a listing for an exclusive Justice League Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital set (via Batman-News), which includes six pins representing each of the heroes. However, the package also includes a sticker that reads, “Includes Bonus Scene not seen in theaters.” So, basically, the Blu-Ray will include a brand new scene that wasn’t part of the…

VACATION Directors in Talks to Helm FLASHPOINT Movie
It’s no secret that DC Films’ Flash movie has hit some speed bumps. The film lost two directors over creative differences, with a new screenwriter hired last year. This past summer, it was confirmed that the movie would be titled Flashpoint, adapting the groundbreaking DC storyline. Now, the movie may finally have a director…well, two directors really. According to Variety, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (who helmed the last Vacation movie) are in talks to direct Flashpoint. The two have past comic book movie experience, as they were two of six writers on Spider-Man: Homecoming. WB had also courted Ben Affleck to direct Flashpoint, but the former Batman actor passed. Affleck…

Lois Lane May Be Appearing on SUPERGIRL Soon
So far, Supergirl has included many iconic characters from Superman lore, such as Jimmy James Olsen, Metallo, Toyman, and the Man of Steel himself. One character that we haven’t seen is Lois Lane. We’ve seen her sister Lucy and her father Sam, and there have been references to Clark Kent’s girlfriend throughout the show, but that’s about it. At least, until now. Omega Underground has found a casting call for the role of Lois Lane on Supergirl. The character will reportedly make her first appearance at the end of this season or sometime in the show’s fourth season (assuming it’s renewed). The site also found an audition tape for the role,…

Rumor: Tom Holland's Spider-Man Will Appear in VENOM After All
When Sony first announced its slate of new movies based on Spider-Man characters – beginning with this fall’s Venom – it was initially said that the films would be separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spidey. There have been back-and-forth comments on whether or not that’s true, while Sony was reportedly interested in bringing Tom Holland’s Web-Slinger into these films. Well, a new rumor suggests that’s happening. Director and Collider Movie Talk host Jon Schnepp said on this week’s episode that Spider-Man is definitely going to appear in Venom, which won’t be as separate from the MCU as we’ve been led to believe. “All I’m sayin’ is Spider-Man, and I’m talkin’…

Wally West is Coming to LEGENDS OF TOMORROW – At Least for “A Little Bit”
[Warning: The Following Contains SPOILERS From This Season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.] In the last couple episodes of Legends of Tomorrow, the team lost not one, but two original members. Martin Stein was killed off during the “Crisis on Earth-X,” while Jax, the other half of Firestorm, left the team to go on a new path. Since the show is known for its revolving cast of characters, this led to immediate speculation on who will replace them. Marc Guggenheim previously teased that a previously-established Arrowverse character will come in, and now, we may know who it is. It has been confirmed that Wally West, aka Kid Flash, will be…

Rumor: LEGO DC Villains Video Game in the Works
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games have created many video games based on LEGO properties, including the LEGO Batman trilogy. A new rumor suggests that another DC game is on the way, but with a twist. According to ComicBook, WB and TT are developing a new game starring the villains of the DC Universe. This is a contrast from the last three games, which put the focus on Batman and the Justice League. The game – potentially titled LEGO DC Villains or LEGO DC Supervillains – is said to star many iconic villains, such as Joker, Harley Quinn, and Lex Luthor. The game will reportedly be released at some point…

Retrospective Review: BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM
Batman: Arkham Asylum was released to critical and commercial acclaim in 2009. It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly ten years since Rocksteady Studio’s Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009) was released. It’s still one of the greatest video games of all time and one of the greatest adaptation of the Batman mythos. The three games from the Arkham trilogy are the greatest superhero video games ever and no other superhero video games have come close to being as good. The plot of the game involves the player taking control of Batman as he attempts to stop the Joker, who has seized control of Arkham Asylum from launching a plan…

Mark Strong Confirms Doctor Sivana Role in SHAZAM
A couple months ago, it was reported that Mark Strong was in negotiations to join New Line’s Shazam as the villain, Doctor Sivana. In the comics, Sivana is traditionally Captain Marvel Shazam’s arch-nemesis, and with Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam moving on to his own film, it makes sense to put him in this movie. Now, it’s confirmed. At the premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s OVO in London, Strong confirms to Celebretainment that he is playing the Shazam villain. Following his role as Sinestro in 2011’s Green Lantern, Strong is happy to get a second chance in the DC Universe. “I’m playing an evil bastard called Doctor Sivana, they are always the best characters to…
