The Spider-Man character has been adapted multiple times for the big screen. We have Sam Raimi’s iconic trilogy, Sony’s “Amazing“ series, and now the Marvel Cinematic Universe iteration. But the one film that stands above the others is 2004’s Spider-Man 2, the middle installment of the Raimi trilogy. We first met actor David Harewood on Supergirl as Hank Henshaw, the mysterious head of the DEO. It was later reveals that Henshaw was actually presumed dead, and assuming his identity was J’onn J’onzz, aka Martian Manhunter. In season two, Henshaw was resurrected by Cadmus as “Cyborg Superman,” giving Harewood a dual role on the show. Unfortunately, Cyborg Superman only played a minor role in season two. It has also maintained exceptionally strong legs at the box office, proving that the general audience really loves this movie. Now, the film has set a new record for the franchise. We have a couple of casting updates on two of the next movies in the X-Men universe. First off, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Rosario Dawson has dropped out of Josh Boone’s New Mutants. Replacing her is Alice Braga, whose credits include I Am Legend and Predators. It’s unclear why Dawson exited the project. Braga will play Dr. Cecilia Reyes, who can generate a protective bio-field around herself, but there’s apparently more to her than meets the eye. Without a doubt, the X-Men franchise is one of the most important at 20th Century Fox. In addition to two trilogies and two Wolverine movies, the studio recently launched the wildly successful Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s last Wolverine outing, Logan.
