THE FLASH Movie to Begin Production Early Next Year in London
The first DC film scheduled for release after Justice League is The Flash, starring Ezra Miller as the Scarlet Speedster. Rick Famuyiwa will direct the movie, which will co-star Kiersey Clemons as Iris West. Seth Grahame-Smith wrote the script. Now, we know when and where the film will begin shooting. According to On Location Vacations, production on The Flash will commence in January. Filming will take place in London, where Justice League is currently shooting. DC’s LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Casts its Stargirl
Back at San Diego Comic-Con this year, it was announced that Stargirl will appear in season two of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. She will serve as a member of the Justice Society of America. Now, the superheroine has officially been cast. According to IGN, Power Rangers and iZombie alum Sarah Grey will play Courtney Whitmore, aka Stargirl. It’s unclear which episode will mark her debut, while it’s unknown whether this is a recurring or regular role. MAN OF STEEL Sequel Finally Enters Active Development at Warner Bros.
Back when Man of Steel was released in 2013, Warner Bros. confirmed plans for a sequel. This sequel was later revealed to be Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In addition to that film, Henry Cavill’s Superman will appear in the two Justice League movies. WB confirmed in 2014 that a standalone Man of Steel sequel will happen within the 2016-2020 timeframe. SUICIDE SQUAD Grosses $135 Million in Record-Breaking Opening Weekend
From the get-go, tracking suggested that Suicide Squad would surpass Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy as the biggest movie debut in August. Initial tracking predicted a $125 million+ opening, while more recent estimates suggested a $130-140 million debut. Expectations increased even further after the film’s strong $65 million gross on Friday, leading to a $145-150 million prediction. A 41% drop on Saturday led to slowed traffic, but Suicide Squad still earned a huge opening weekend.
