BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN Production Designer Talks Excitement And Film Delay
Speaking with Flickering Myth, Dark City and 300: Rise of an Empire production designer Patrick Tatopoulos talks about reteaming with director Zack Snyder for Batman vs. Superman. He says that the movie is “huge”, and is very excited to be tackling such a project. “I’m working in Detroit on Batman vs. Superman [2016] and its super cold there. At the end of 300: Rise of an Empire [2014] I met with Zack [Snyder] and he said, ‘I going to do this movie and want you to design it.’ I was stunned. I thought, ‘Wow! Great.’ That’s where it started. This is a crazy huge movie. It’s taking a lot of…

It was recently announced that Ben McKenzie will play Detective Jim Gordon in Fox’s Gotham television show. Now, the latest casting report reveals who will play the younger versions of Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin and Alfred Pennyworth, as well as two female characters. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Robin Lord Taylor (The Walking Dead) is set to play Cobblepot, who is “described as having the brains of a chess grandmaster and the morals of a jackal, [and] is a low-level psychopath for gangster Fish Mooney who hides his sadistic lust for power behind an exquisitely polite demeanor.” Taylor is the second actor to play Penguin in live action, after Burgess Meredith in…

Will Felicity Smoak Join The Birds Of Prey On ARROW?
Arrow S2E17 is titled “Birds of Prey”, and it is expected to lay the groundwork for the DC team of the same name. Both Black Canary and Huntress will feature, but who would be the third member? It’s unlikely that they’ll use Barbara Gordon/Oracle, as that character would likely be restricted to upcoming Batman movies and/or the Gotham TV series. However, many fans have speculated that fan-favorite Felicity Smoak could fill the Oracle role. While promoting Arrow, executive producer Marc Guggenheim was asked if we would see Felicity have some role in the “Birds of Prey” episode. “She plays a role, but not in the way you’re hoping. Hopefully we’ll…

Zack Snyder Says THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS Influences The “History” Of BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN
When the Batman vs. Superman announcement was made at Comic-Con last year, director Zack Snyder said that the iconic graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns would “inform” the film. This and the inclusion of an older Batman made many to believe that the Man of Steel sequel would be at least a loose adaptation of the Frank Miller piece. However, in an interview with French magazine Popcorn (thanks to Comic Book Therapy for the transcription), Snyder reaffirmed that the movie is not a direct adaptation, but slightly elaborates on how influential the novel will be. “But the comic book will influence the history of Batman Vs. Superman, on which the writer David…

Review: THE LEGO MOVIE (2014)
Warning: the following contains some very mild spoilers. This original computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared. When I first heard that Warner Bros. was developing a feature length LEGO movie, I laughed at the notion. Despite being a longtime fan of the franchise, I never thought that a big screen adaptation would work, especially since most “toy films” are hit-and-miss. However,…

Greg Berlanti Talks THE FLASH Show’s “Sci-Fi Bent”, S.T.A.R. Labs’ Presence And More
Speaking with Digital Spy, Arrow executive producer Greg Berlanti discusses the planned Flash spin-off. He affirms that, despite the two shows existing in the same universe, Barry Allen’s series will be different from Oliver Queen’s. The former will be more sci-fi influenced, says Berlanti. “Barry is different from Oliver. He’s a man of science and has more of a sci-fi bent, whereas Arrow has a bit more of a crime bent. We often talk about how Oliver comes off like a pessimist, but deep down he’s an optimist and has hope. Barry lost his mother at a very young age, his father was sent to prison for murdering his mom, he…
