Marvel Studios Announces 10th Anniversary IMAX Film Festival
Marvel Studios has been celebrating its 10th anniversary all year, releasing everything from new merch to home video re-releases to three new movies, including Avengers: Infinity War. Now, the celebration continues, and this news is for those who want to marathon the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel has announced that all 20 MCU movies will return to theaters for IMAX’s 10th Anniversary Film Festival. The festival begins on August 30th and runs until September 6th in the United States and Canada. Sony Outlines Slate for its Marvel Movie Universe – SILVER SABLE, BLACK CAT, JACKPOT, VENOM’s Rating and More
We’ve known for a while that Sony is planning its own Marvel Universe, using various characters from Spider-Man lore. Venom kicks things off this fall, while the studio put Silver & Black, Morbius the Living Vampire, Nightwatch, Silk, and Kraven the Hunter into development. Now, the studio has made some major changes to its slate. Sony is ready to go in on creating sequels and spinoffs if Venom is a hit. New Details on Disney Streaming Service’s Marvel and STAR WARS Inclusions
This week, Disney outlined some details on what to expect from its streaming service, which will launch in late 2019. Included are details on which Star Wars movies will be included, when Marvel movies will start appearing, Jon Favreau’s Star Wars series, and more. As announced previously, the service will include exclusive shows from both Marvel and Lucasfilm. Among those is an original Star Wars series from Jon Favreau. This show, which is expected to begin production this fall, will have 10 episodes and a $100 million budget – so $10 million per episode. James Gunn’s firing from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise has sent shockwaves across social media. Despite the cast’s support of the filmmaker, Disney and Marvel are reportedly not planning to rehire him. No cast member has been more vocal than Dave Bautista, who plays Drax. Box Office Updates: Ant-Man and The Wasp Go to the Movies
The summer box office season is in its final stretch, but we have some more updates on two superhero movies. Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp held onto 7th place in its fifth weekend of release in North America, grossing an estimated $6.2 million. This brings its domestic total to $195.5 million, so it should hit the $200 million mark soon. Overseas, the film had a boost from a $6.2 million opening in the UK. Marvel Studios’ Black Panther took the box office by storm earlier this year, breaking record after record after record.
