David Goyer to Co-Write GREEN LANTERN CORPS Movie Starring Hal Jordan and John Stewart
We’re now about three and a half years away from the release of DC Films’ Green Lantern Corps. We’ve heard plenty of rumors surrounding this project, as well as Green Lantern’s role in the Justice League movies. Now, the film is taking shape with the addition of two screenwriters – one of whom is very familiar to the DC Extended Universe. According to Deadline, David S. Goyer and Justin Rhodes will write the script for Green Lantern Corps. DC Films’ Geoff Johns and Jon Berg are executive producing, with Goyer serving as a producer. Johns and Goyer conceived the storyline. Goyer, of course, is no stranger to the DC Universe.…

The CW Resurrects CONSTANTINE as an Animated Series on CW Seed
After NBC’s cancellation of Constantine, the short lived series’ fanbase became very vocal in an attempt to bring it back. While a second season was not picked up by any other network, the John Constantine character appeared on an episode of The CW’s Arrow, thus integrating him into the greater Arrowverse. Despite a few rumors, The CW never revisited the character…until now. At the Television Critics Association winter tour yesterday (via THR), it was announced that CW Seed will continue Constantine as an animated series. The series will consist of 5-6 ten minute episodes. Greg Berlanti and David S. Goyer are among the producers. Matt Ryan will reprise the role again,…

Peter Gadiot Cast as Mr. Mxyzptlk on SUPERGIRL
Last month, it was announced that Superman villain Mr. Mxyzptlk will appear in two episodes of Supergirl later this season. Now, we know which actor will be portraying the character. After being spotted on set, Heroic Hollywood has confirmed that Once Upon a Time in Wonderland alum Peter Gadiot will play Mr. Mxyzptlk. While unconfirmed, it sounds like the character is popping up in episode 2×13. Mxyzptlk is one of the campier and more bizarre members of Superman’s rogues gallery. In the comics, the magical trickster enjoys tormenting the Man of Steel, but if he speaks his name backwards, he is sent back to his home, the fifth dimension. Supergirl…

Filmmaker J.A. Bayona Expresses Interest in Directing a Superman Movie
The last solo Superman movie was 2013’s Man of Steel, which serves as the first installment of the DC Extended Universe. The character went on to star in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, while he will be in the two Justice League movies. But when will we see another standalone Superman film? Warner Bros. confirmed in 2014 that a solo Man of Steel sequel was in the works, likely to be released by 2020. Additionally, a report last year reaffirmed that the film is in “active” development, and that it’s still a top priority for the studio. While a director is not attached yet, one filmmaker has expressed a…

THE BATMAN Will Reportedly Shoot in Los Angeles This Year
Warner Bros.’ next solo Batman movie, currently titled The Batman, is on track to begin production this spring, possibly in mid-April (per Omega Underground). Ben Affleck stars, directs and co-writes the film, which will also star Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. Now, in the midst of this week’s non-news headlines shedding doubt on The Batman‘s future, we have an update on exactly where the movie will undergo production. Sources have told both Batman-on-Film and Batman-News that The Batman will shoot in Los Angeles, CA. That city is where the “bulk” of production will be, according to BOF, and it will most…

Happy New Year! To celebrate the first day of 2017, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns tweeted the five DC events he was most looking forward to. These include this year’s movie slate, Injustice 2, and confirmation that he is returning to writing comics. But most interestingly, we have something for the television side of things. WONDER WOMAN Director Patty Jenkins Discusses the Film’s World War I Setting
Wonder Woman is finally arriving in theaters next summer, and anticipation is building for the character’s long awaited first film. This is the first time in over a decade that a female superhero has gotten her own movie. Another thing that helps Wonder Woman stand out from other comic book movies is its World War I setting. Most superhero films take place in the present day, with a few exploring other decades in the 20th century. Director Patty Jenkins explains the WWI setting in an interview with Empire, who has also premiered a new still from the movie. She describes how witnessing the war affects Diana’s perspective, contributing to her…

WONDER WOMAN and JUSTICE LEAGUE Among Fandango’s Most Anticipated Movies of 2017
Every year, Fandango surveys a group of moviegoers to determine their most anticipated movies of the next year. For the 2017 survey, more than 2,000 moviegoers responded. The results are dominated by the likes of Star Wars: Episode VIII and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but unsurprisingly, DC’s next two movies also make the list. Wonder Woman is the fourth most anticipated movie of 2017, and the second most anticipated comic book film. Justice League follows at #6 on the list. Additionally, Gal Gadot, who plays Wonder Woman in both films, tops the Rising Female Movie Star list. To see where Wonder Woman and Justice League fall in the…

SUPERGIRL: Metallo, Livewire and More Villains to Return Later This Season
Supergirl is currently on winter hiatus, with the next episode (directed by Kevin Smith) airing on Monday, January 23rd on The CW. But when the show returns, Kara will be facing a few of her old enemies. TV Line has learned that Metallo and Livewire will return to Supergirl later this season. In fact, executive producer Ali Adler says that several other “fan-favorite” villains are coming back this year. I guess another one of these villains is Roulette, who is seen in this 2×09 promo. Metallo appeared in the first two episodes of Supergirl‘s second season. Originally an assassin hired to kill Lena Luthor, John Corben was later recruited by…
