OPINION: Why Ben Affleck Should Stop Playing Batman Now
Way back in 2013, Ben Affleck was cast as the Dark Knight for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The casting back was really controversial; it spawned fan petitions, ridicule, and the rest of the usual for these things. Ultimately, however, Affleck won over most of the doubters with his actual performance, and he reprised the role in Suicide Squad and Justice League. He’s also been attached to star in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Before Justice League came out, rumors began that Affleck would drop out of the Batman role very soon, and/or The Batman would feature a new actor under the cowl. Affleck initially responded by saying that he…

Following the huge success of Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. is quickly moving forward with a sequel. Now, Jenkins has shed some light on what to expect from the sequel. Appearing on Variety‘s Playback podcast (transcription via Collider), Jenkins teases her approach to Wonder Woman 2, which is similar to the structure of the first film. THOR: RAGNAROK Passing $800 Million at Worldwide Box Office
Marvel Studios has had a wildly successful year, with its first two films grossing well over $800 million apiece at the worldwide box office. Its third title of the year, Thor: Ragnarok, is no exception. Per Variety, the critically acclaimed sequel is expected to surpass $800 million sometime today. This success pushes Disney past the $5 billion mark for the third year in a row. Ragnarok is the seventh Marvel title to crack $800 million, and it is easily the biggest Thor movie so far. Ragnarok is currently the eighth highest grossing movie of 2017 worldwide, and the sixth highest domestically. That’s only going to go higher as its run…

JUSTICE LEAGUE Passes $500 Million at the Worldwide Box Office
DC Films’ Justice League is heading into its third weekend, but ahead of that, the movie has hit a key box office milestone. According to Forbes, Justice League has surpassed the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office. So far, the film has made about $179 million domestically, bringing its worldwide total to $505 million. Due to its colossal $300 million production budget (not counting marketing), Justice League reportedly needs to gross at least $700 million in order to break even. Thankfully, we’re just $200 million away from that happening. Hopefully, the movie maintains enough legs to cross that hurdle and generate at least some sort of profit for Warner…

Ranking the Arrowverse Crossover Events So Far
Ever since 2014, The CW has aired an annual crossover event for its DC Comics shows. The first two crossovers just had Arrow and The Flash, but with the introduction of Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow on the network, the crossovers expanded to four shows. And they’re only getting bigger and bigger each year. With The CW just finishing its biggest event yet, “Crisis on Earth-X,” we figured we’d go back and rank all four of the Arrowverse crossovers up to this point. #4: Heroes Join Forces (2015) “Heroes Join Forces” was a two-episode crossover between The Flash and Arrow. The story establishes the backstories for Hawkgirl, Hawkman, and Vandal Savage, leading…

Rumor: DC Films Emphasizing on the Legion of Doom for the Future
With Justice League‘s box office results being lackluster so far, there has been much speculation over the future of the DC Films franchise. There are three movies that are definitely happening – Aquaman, Shazam, and Wonder Woman 2 – but beyond that, the future is very much uncertain. However, a new rumor suggests that Warner Bros. does have plans for the foreseeable future, with an iconic supervillain team at the center of it. [Warning: The Following Contains SPOILERS From Justice League.] The end-credits scene for Justice League saw Deathstroke meeting with Lex Luthor, who pitched the idea of forming their own League. This was a good indicator that a potential sequel…

SUICIDE SQUAD: That Joker Batsuit Was Never Actually in the Movie
There was a lot of merchandise released for the Suicide Squad movie last year, but there was one thing that caught fans’ attention. Hot Toys released a figure of Joker wearing a Batman suit, covered in classic Joker colors and graffiti. Funko released a Pop! figure with the same design for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. This Batsuit never appeared in Suicide Squad, and considering all that has been cut from the movie, was it ever going to? Turns out it wasn’t. Writer-director David Ayer set the record straight on Twitter, saying that the Joker Batsuit was never actually made for the movie. Rather, it’s just a toy gimmick. Not…

JUSTICE LEAGUE Falls to Second Place This Weekend, Nears $500 Million Worldwide
DC Films’ Justice League has not only earned mixed reviews from critics, but it has struggled at the box office too. Its $94 million opening weekend was the franchise’s lowest to date, while it is supposed to make at least $700 million worldwide if it were to break even. We don’t know if that’s happening yet, but we have the estimates from its second weekend. Per Box Office Mojo, Justice League grossed an estimated $40.7 million over the three-day weekend $59.6 million over five days, putting it in second place behind Pixar’s Coco ($49 million/$71.2 million). This is a nearly 57% drop from its opening weekend; that’s a bigger drop than Wonder…

FEATURE: Five Villains We Want to See in DC Films’ Injustice League
[Warning: The Following Contains Some SPOILERS From Justice League.] The Injustice League is one of several villain teams in the DC Universe, where some of the world’s greatest antagonists join forces to take on the Justice League. And based on the post-credits scene for Justice League, it looks like that’s the plan for the future. In the scene, Deathstroke/Slade Wilson meets with Lex Luthor, who just broke out of prison. Lex talks about the formation of the Justice League, and he asks Slade, “Shouldn’t we have a league of our own?” This perfectly sets up the Injustice League for a sequel, if it happens. We can definitely expect Lex and…
