UPDATE: BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Breaks Box Office Records With $166M Opening Weekend
This post has been updated to include the final numbers for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘s opening weekend. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice finally arrived in theaters this weekend, marking the conclusion of the three-year wait. Warner Bros. has a lot riding on this film; it has a $250M budget, it’s a big event movie, and it is designed to launch a multi-film DC Extended Universe. Fortunately, the movie is off to a fantastic start at the box office. It has been confirmed (via THR) that Batman v Superman has opened with an estimated $166.1 million this weekend. This marks the biggest opening for both the Easter weekend and…

Zack Snyder Breaks Down the Shocking Ending for BATMAN V SUPERMAN and How It Affects JUSTICE LEAGUE
This weekend, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice finally arrived in theaters. Despite mixed reception from fans and critics, the film is going to perform wonderfully at the box office. And this is only good news for the rest of the DC Extended Universe, including the follow-up film, 2017’s Justice League. Speaking of which, the wait for Justice League just got a lot harder. Batman v Superman ended with a rather shocking and gutsy plot twist that will have huge ramifications for the next film. And now, director Zack Snyder has discussed the ending, why they decided to go that route, and what it means for Justice League. [Warning: The Following…

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: The People v The Critics
I had the pleasure of seeing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice twice now and I really enjoyed it. The one thing I noticed was the huge disparity between movie critics reviews of the film and fans reactions. The fans got to see the film at an IMAX event earlier this week and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Everyone talked about how this is one of their favorite superhero films ever, and how Zack Snyder is a visionary. The next day the media embargo lifted and news sites released their reviews of the film. The difference of opinion was shocking. Some critics said it was the worst superhero film in…

Review: BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE
With the future of the DC universe hanging in the balance, many wonder if Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice can pull the weight of being both a good film and a jumping off point for future films. Director Zack Snyder’s epic blockbuster is a continuation of 2013’s Man of Steel, and the end events of that film directly tie into this film. Snyder’s decision to not shy away from the controversial ending of Man of Steel gives the director a chance to not only defend his previous work, but also to build upon it. Man of Steel opened to mixed reviews from critics, with many citing overly bombastic action and…

Review: MAN OF STEEL
If you know me by following me on Twitter, you’d know I love Man of Steel. I’ve been in love with it ever since I saw it on June 14, 2013 (the day it came out), and have continued to defend it to this day. In case you didn’t know because you’ve been living under a rock the past three years, Man of Steel is one of the most divisive films to come out this decade. It either lived up to your expectations or it disappointed you heavily. Man of Steel lived up to my expectations; and then some. In Man of Steel, the planet of Krypton is on the verge…

Review: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES
As both a film in & of itself and the finale to The Dark Knight Trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises is not perfect by any stretch. But thankfully, the movie’s flaws are not enough to hold it back from being a satisfying conclusion to one of the best cinematic sagas of our time. What makes the film a worthy conclusion to the trilogy despite a large number of flaws is its deft handling of Bruce Wayne and his character development. One of the core components of Batman’s character, throughout his entire history, is his inability to move on from grief; his entire motivation stems from the trauma of watching his…

New WONDER WOMAN Promo Image Unveiled
2017’s Wonder Woman is a hotly anticipated film, a given considering it will be the fourth film in ever-expanding DC Extended Universe and will be the first solo film about the title character. Should the film prove a hit, such success could lead to more female-led superhero films, something many would argue the genre needs quite a bit. Given the level of talent involved, from director Patty Jenkins to a cast that includes Connie Nielsen & Robin Wright, the film achieving the critical acclaim that has thus far eluded the DCEU is a very real possibility. Check below to see a recently revealed Entertainment Weekly promotion image from the film, featuring Gal Gadot as…

Geoff Johns Teases “A Lot of Plans” for DC’s Booster Gold
For a while, fans have been wondering if we’ll see Booster Gold pop up in one of DC’s live action film or television projects. After being confirmed to not appear on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, a rumor claimed that a Booster Gold/Blue Beetle team-up film is in the works. We haven’t heard any official confirmation on that one, but rest assured, there ARE plans for Booster Gold…somewhere. Speaking with ComicBook.com at the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice premiere, DC Entertainment’s Geoff Johns weighs in on possible plans for Booster Gold, whether they be film, TV or comics. He simply says, “You’ll see [Booster Gold] very soon, and there’s talks about…there’s actually…

Review: SUPERMAN RETURNS
While it has its fair share of fans, Superman Returns has been met with a lot “mehs” from people. I can totally understand where the latter group comes from, but for me, this is a pretty good Superman film. While Lex Luthor plots to destroy him once and for all, the Man of Steel returns after a long absence to a much-changed world. Lois Lane has moved on with her life, and society has learned to survive without him. Superman must find a way to reconnect with her and find his place in a world that may no longer need him. Superman Returns isn’t really an action film. There’s no…
