BATGIRL Moving Forward with New Screenwriter
A Batgirl movie was announced last year when Joss Whedon was hired to write and direct. However, two months ago, Whedon dropped out, saying that he couldn’t crack the story. Around that same time, it was reported that Batgirl would go on the backburner as DC shifts focus to its A-list heroes. However, the film is moving forward with a new writer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Christina Hodson has been hired to take on Batgirl. In addition to the Bumblebee movie, Hodson previously wrote a script for Birds of Prey, a spinoff featuring many female DC characters. Colton Haynes Returns to ARROW as Series Regular for Season 7
Arrow was recently picked up by The CW for a seventh season. While plot details are currently under wraps, the season will bring back a fan-favorite character to the spotlight. It has been announced (via TV Line) that Colton Haynes’ Roy Harper will be back as a series regular on Arrow next season. This news comes off the heels of his recent two-episode guest appearance this season. In a statement, Haynes said he “could not be happier” to reprise the role again. YOUNG JUSTICE: OUTSIDERS Finishes Voice Recording
Our favorite teenage heroes are close to return. We haven’t heard much about Young Justice: Outsiders recently, but Khary Payton, voice of Aqualad, confirmed at C2E2 (via Heroic Hollywood) that voice recording of 26 episodes was complete, and that the animation process was in the works. He said about the show – “It is as twisty, and turny, and full of so many characters, I can’t wait for you guys to see it. The news is coming from THR, and the show has already been greenlit for a series. For those of you who don’t know, The Boys is set in a darker superhero world than we are familiar with. It’s been a while since we heard anything on DC Films’ Justice League Dark. With the movie struggling to lock down a director, screenwriter Gerard Johnstone was hired to work on the script. Now, a new rumor suggests that the film will feature a fan-favorite group from DC Comics lore. Sony and Insomniac Games have announced that the game will be released on Friday, September 7th, exclusively for PlayStation 4. Over the years, Joaquin Phoenix has been attached to many different comic book movie roles. The Academy Award nominated actor has been rumored to play everyone from Doctor Strange to Lex Luthor to Bruce Banner.
