1999 saw the beginning of the fan-favorite comic book called The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which was written by Alan Moore. The series, which teamed up various Victorian England icons in an Avengers or Justice League-esque assembly, spawned three miniseries and two graphic novels. Two of these limited series and a graphic novel were published by America’s Best Comics, an imprint created by Moore that fell under the DC Comics/Wildstorm umbrella. The Suicide Squad movie has generated much hype since its announcement last year. The supervillain film has assembled a killer ensemble cast topped with A-list stars, such as Will Smith as Deadshot and Jared Leto as The Joker, making it one of the most anticipated comic book movies of next year. And now, one of the film’s actresses has expressed her own excitement. Gotham introduced early versions of many iconic Batman villains in its first season, and season two will be no different. Hugo Strange, Mr. Freeze, Mad Hatter and Clayface are all set to appear, while The Joker’s origin story will be featured. And now, casting is underway for at least two villains that will antagonize Gotham next season. Via TV Line, both a male and a female villain are being cast. In Arrow‘s second season, Harley Quinn made a memorable cameo as an ARGUS prisoner. The brief appearance generated much hype since, leading to speculation on when Quinn would have a bigger role (if at all). However, with Harley set to play a key role in the Suicide Squad movie, seeing more of her on Arrow is unlikely. She had another cameo in a deleted scene from the season two finale, but otherwise, that’s it. And sure enough, there are no longer plans to bring her back to the series. Earlier this year, Dwayne Johnson suggested that Warner Bros./DC Entertainment’s Shazam will be released sooner than its current April 5th, 2019 release date. Johnson will play antihero Black Adam in the film, a casting choice that fans – including the actor himself – have wanted to see happen for years. When Arrow first premiered on The CW in 2012, few could predict its success. Originally conceived as a darker and realistic take on Green Arrow, the series went on to spin off The Flash into his own show, allowing metahumans and time travel to come into this universe. Early next year, a third series, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, will team up supporting characters from both shows, such as Atom, Firestorm and Captain Cold. Next month will finally see the release of Batman: Arkham Knight, the epic conclusion to Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham trilogy. To celebrate, a new trailer for the video game has been released, and this one utilizes a unique formula. The trailer combines live action footage with game footage. It features people in real-life situations who must become courageous and selfless, characteristics shared by the Dark Knight.
