Megalyn Echikunwoke is set to head to CW Seed’s Freedom Fighters: The Ray. She will play the multiverse counterpart to her current role on CW Seed, present day Vixen. Megalyn is currently the voice of present day Vixen on CW Seed, and she has played the same role in live action on The CW’s Arrow. EW has learned Djimon Hounsou has been cast in Shazam! He’ll be playing the 3,000 year-old sorcerer that grants young Billy Batson his powers. Now, you may be asking… … but the Kree mercenary Korath the Pursuer that adult Peter Quill runs into when he’s first introduced to the audience was played by Hounsou. You may also know Hounsou for his roles in Amistad, Gladiator (“I will see you again but not yet, not yet.”) and even 2005’s Constantine, where he played Papa Midnite. AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Blu-Ray Details Officially Announced
Avengers: Infinity War is the cinematic event of the year, uniting about two dozen Marvel heroes in the ultimate battle to save the universe. The film grossed over $2 billion worldwide, and it has achieved the biggest opening weekend in history. Now, the movie is heading to home video. Marvel has announced that Avengers: Infinity War is hitting digital platforms on July 31st, before arriving on Blu-Ray, DVD and 4K on August 14th. Jeremy Renner Set to Star in SPAWN
Jeremy Renner will be joining Jamie Foxx and Todd McFarlane in the Blumhouse adaption of Spawn. Deadline reports that Renner will be playing Detective “Twitch” Williams, while Foxx will be playing Al Simmons. The budget has yet to be determined (it’ll likely be in the $10-12 million range), but McFarlane is hopeful these casting choices will help it, as well as “spawn” a franchise. TEEN TITANS GO! TO THE MOVIES Tracking to Open Below $20 Million
Teen Titans GO! To the Movies has hit box office tracking two weeks out. While it’s still early days, the animated movie is currently on track for a pretty small opening. DEADPOOL 2: THE SUPER DUPER CUT Announced for Home Video
It was previously confirmed that Deadpool 2 will get an extended cut on home video, featuring 13 minutes of new footage. More recently, an early screening of the new cut was announced for San Diego Comic-Con next week. And now, Fox has made the big announcement. Deadpool 2: The Super Duper Cut will hit digital stores on August 7th, before arriving on Blu-Ray and 4K on August 21st.
