Composer Michael Giacchino Returns for SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME
Composer Michael Giacchino has collaborated a few times with Marvel Studios in recent years. He created the scores for Doctor Strange and Spider-Man: Homecoming, while he composed the theme for Marvel’s current opening logo. Now, he’s returning to the MCU for his next big project. Giacchino is set to return as composer of the Homecoming sequel, Spider-Man: Far From Home. The film brings back a lot of the film’s cast and creative team, including director Jon Watts. The sequel picks up immediately after the events of Avengers 4, when Peter Parker and his friends take a vacation to Europe. Along the way, Peter fights new enemy Mysterio and teams up…

Ryan Coogler Signs on to Write and Direct BLACK PANTHER 2
The word is out, the word is given. And the word fresh from The Hollywood Reporter is that Ryan Coogler has signed on to write and direct the sequel to his February smash hit, Black Panther. Fans have been clamoring for news on this front since Wakanda graced the silver screen. Coogler is expected to pen the sequel early next year, with an eye on a late 2019/early 2020 start date. With over $1.3 billion in Wakandan Treasury notes (i.e. Box Office receipts), the sequel should be another hit maker for Disney and Marvel. Only time will tell if the film lives up to the critical success of the original. In…

Spider-Man Expected to Appear in KRAVEN THE HUNTER Movie
The biggest critique surrounding Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters (SUMC) is that, while these characters are prominent parts of Spider-Man lore, Spider-Man himself is absent. Even Venom had to drastically alter its origin story because, in the comics, Eddie Brock and Venom are closely tied to Spider-Man. This, along with Sony’s current deal with Marvel Studios, has led to doubt regarding Spidey appearing in any of these movies. However, that may be about to change. Our friends at Discussing Film recently spoke with screenwriter Richard Wenk, who is working on Sony’s Kraven the Hunter movie. Wenk talks about how he is starting the process now, and how the movie will lean…

James Gunn Shifting to DC, Will Write (and Possibly Direct) SUICIDE SQUAD 2
Taking all controversy aside for a second, this is something that I find highly ironic, even though there is nothing weird about a director and writer going from one ship to the next (normally). According to reports, James Gunn, the writer and director of Marvel’s two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, is now set to write DC’s Suicide Squad 2, with an eye to direct. Which is quite ironic considering Warner Bros. wanted the original Suicide Squad to be its answer to Guardians of the Galaxy. On what’s happened to Gavin O’Connor, the previous director? Well, it looks like it was creative differences that made him fall back, according to…

First Look: Ruby Rose Suits Up as The CW’s Batwoman
This year’s Arrowverse crossover, titled “Elseworlds,” will introduce Batwoman to The CW’s DC lineup. Played by Ruby Rose, the character will first appear in the three-episode event, before headlining her own show. And now, with filming on “Elseworlds” beginning, we have a first look. The CW has released a new promo image, giving us a first look at Rose suited up as Batwoman. The costume was designed by Colleen Atwood, who also created the suits for Green Arrow, Flash, and Supergirl. Needless to say, the costume looks very faithful to the comics’ version, and it is arguably one of the better costumes in the Arrowverse already. Check it out below,…

Jennifer Beals Joins SWAMP THING
Swamp Thing has found another one of its leads. Straight from DC themselves, we have news that Jennifer Beals (The Book of Eli) has been cast as Sheriff Lucilia Cable, an original character. We don’t have too much to go on because the character doesn’t have a comic book origin, but DC was kind enough to give us some character details. Tough as nails and pragmatic, Sheriff Lucilia Cable’s fierce devotion to her son, Matt, is rivaled only by her sworn duty to serve and protect the town of Marais. As the community she has dedicated her life to defending is beset by strange forces, Lucilia must double down in her efforts…

Rumor: Has Warner Bros. Found a New Actor for THE BATMAN?
So Ben Affleck is out as Batman, or at least we think he is. I know, we’ve gone through this a thousand times at this point, but hear us out. Our friends at That Hashtag Show dropped some new details that involve Ben Affleck, Warner Bros., and a young actor. This’ll be fun. Early last week Affleck met with WB execs. Now, this can mean multiple things. He could’ve met with them regarding almost anything, but we’re hoping it was for The Batman. According to That Hashtag Show, Affleck not only met with Warner Bros. executives, but possibly Jack O’Connell (Godless) too. So could this meeting have been about a potential replacement…

Will Smith Still Wants His DEADSHOT Movie
Will Smith recently celebrated his 50th birthday. Like most 50 year olds, Smith celebrated his big day by jumping into the Grand Canyon. Before his jump, he did a Q&A with his fans. One of the fans asked Smith if he was still interested in a potential Deadshot movie. Here’s what Smith had to say: I hope so, I love playing Deadshot, I’ve really enjoyed that character. They’ve been talking about it, so if a good idea comes around… we’ve been having meetings. But I’d love to. I love Deadshot. We don’t know if a Deadshot movie is in Walter Hamada’s plans for the Worlds of DC, but it’s nice to know…
