VENOM Sequel Moving Forward with Screenwriter
Despite negative reviews from critics and mixed reception from fans, Sony’s Venom was a big hit at the box office, grossing over $855 million worldwide on a $100 million budget. This secured the studio’s plans for a franchise, along with its Universe of Marvel Characters. Now, the sequel is officially moving forward. Screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who worked on the first film, will return to pen Venom 2. Tom Hardy will return as the titular antihero, while Michelle Williams’ Anne Weying will be back. Kevin Feige Talks AVENGERS: ENDGAME Title and Marketing
Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige was in attendance at the 2019 Golden Globes last night, where Black Panther was up for Best Motion Picture – Drama and other categories. There, Feige was interviewed about the studio’s biggest movie yet, along with other teases on Marvel’s future. Speaking with MTV News, Feige addresses the secrecy for Avengers: Endgame. It was rumored that the title changed several times, most recently just before the trailer dropped. However, Feige says that the title was finalized very early in the film’s development. AQUAMAN is Now the Biggest DCEU Film Ever Worldwide
DC Films’ Aquaman has been an absolute juggernaut, setting new box office highs for the franchise. This week, the movie has now reached a new milestone, as it continues its quest to $1 billion worldwide. Aquaman has currently grossed $238.3 million domestically and $649.3 million overseas, bringing its worldwide total to $887.6 million. Disney Won’t Be Making STAR WARS Movies for Streaming Service
Disney is planning a lot of exclusive content for its streaming service, titled Disney+. Among the new projects are two original shows set in the Star Wars universe. One, titled The Mandalorian, follows a lone gunfighter after the events of Return of the Jedi. The other focuses on Cassian Andor, and it takes place before Rogue One. DC Reportedly Adapting BATMAN: THE LONG HALLOWEEN As a Two-Part Animated Movie
DC Entertainment has looked to Batman stories when it comes to much of its animated movie slate. Now, it appears that the company is tackling one of the Dark Knight’s most iconic tales for its next animated event. THE BATMAN Now Eyeing a November Production Start
Last we heard on The Batman, writer-director Matt Reeves said that he was hoping to start shooting in the spring or summer of 2019. Then, we received word that Warner Bros. is in no rush to release the movie, so it could be until 2021 or later before it hits theaters. The CW Sets Pilot Order for BATWOMAN
Ruby Rose’s Batwoman made her debut in the three-part “Elseworlds” Arrowverse crossover on The CW. In that story, Green Arrow, Flash, and Supergirl travel to Gotham City to confront Dr. John Deegan over his changes to reality. Along the way, they meet Kate Kane, aka Batwoman, who has become Gotham’s new vigilante after the mysterious disappearance of Batman (and Bruce Wayne). THE PUNISHER Season 2 Gets a Premiere Date and First Promo Trailer
Marvel’s The Punisher was a hit on Netflix back in 2017, with a second season being ordered shortly afterwards. Now, marketing has finally begun, as Netflix has announced the premiere date for season two. Spoiler: It’s going to be very soon. The Punisher season two will be released on Friday, January 18th.
