A few weeks ago, it was reported that 21st Century Fox was looking to sell most of its assets, including its film studio. The Walt Disney Company emerged as the top contender to acquire the studio. Now, the deal has been announced. Disney has confirmed that it will acquire most of Fox’s assets, with its transaction value being a whopping $66.1 billion. The deal will close in 12-18 months. Netflix Renews THE PUNISHER for Season 2
Netflix expanded its Marvel library this fall with The Punisher, a spinoff from Daredevil. Fortunately, the series has now been renewed. Netflix announced today that The Punisher has been renewed for a second season. No word on when it will premiere, but with Netflix releasing three Marvel shows next year, chances are it’ll be out in 2019. Plot details are also currently under wraps. This news comes in the midst of Marvel’s uncertain future on Netflix. SHAZAM Casts Two More Friends of Billy Batson
Today, we have some more casting news for New Line’s Shazam, which is the next DC film to undergo production. According to Deadline, actors Ian Chen and Jovan Armand have landed roles in the superhero movie. Chen will play Eugene and Armand will play Pedro, two friends of Billy Batson’s in a group home. The two join Zachary Levi as Shazam, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, and Grace Fulton as another friend of Billy’s. Shazam will begin shooting in February under the direction of David F. Sandberg. The film is set to hit theaters in April 2019.
