DC UNIVERSE – Is It Worth It?
DC Universe is the one stop shop for all things in the world of DC Comics. Or at least it’s supposed to be. The streaming service has a ton of comics, movies, and shows that will make both old and new fans happy. That being said, it does suffer from a few major problems. Is it worth its lofty price tag or should you skip it entirely? We’ve pushed DCU to the brink this past month, making sure that it’s worth every penny. As of the writing of this review, DCU is available on Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, IOS, Android devices, and of course worldwide web (assuming the US…

Why BATMAN BEYOND Should Be DC Universe’s Next Live Action Series
After their first show, Titans, it’s time that we give the DC Universe its next project, Batman Beyond. For those of you who don’t know, Batman Beyond is the sequel series to Batman: The Animated Series. It focuses on Terry McGinnis. The Batman of 2039 (the year changed constantly). Terry is a high school kid who happens to run into a now-retired Bruce Wayne. Taking place in Neo-Gotham, Terry, with the help of Bruce, becomes the Batman of a new age taking on a slew of new villains and even some old ones. Batman Beyond is a cross between Spider-Man and Blade Runner. The future setting is something we haven’t seen…

Review: TITANS Season 1 Episode 1
Hopes and expectations are difficult things. There’s a joke that the best comic books are the ones you read when you’re thirteen, and I think that extends to all media. Especially nowadays when nostalgia is the shorthand to connect with an audience, and the franchises we loved as kids return for Box office Gold. The Teen Titans animated TV series left its mark on western animation, and I feel it’s impossible to talk about Titans without feeling its fingerprints. The leadup to the premiere of Titans was marked by reactions by the fans who clearly have a love of these characters. It is very hard to come to Titans with…

Jennifer Beals Joins SWAMP THING
Swamp Thing has found another one of its leads. Straight from DC themselves, we have news that Jennifer Beals (The Book of Eli) has been cast as Sheriff Lucilia Cable, an original character. We don’t have too much to go on because the character doesn’t have a comic book origin, but DC was kind enough to give us some character details. Tough as nails and pragmatic, Sheriff Lucilia Cable’s fierce devotion to her son, Matt, is rivaled only by her sworn duty to serve and protect the town of Marais. As the community she has dedicated her life to defending is beset by strange forces, Lucilia must double down in her efforts…

Deathstroke Will Appear on TITANS…Eventually
DC Universe’s Titans is set to bring many iconic Teen Titans characters to life, and with a season two renewal already confirmed, that’s only going to keep going. But one character fans have wondered about is Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke. Despite his strong ties to the Titans, Deathstroke has been a part of DC’s plans for other projects. However, that isn’t going to stop Slade from coming to DC Universe. At New York Comic-Con, producer Geoff Johns confirmed that Deathstroke will (eventually) make his presence felt on Titans. “You’ll see Deathstroke in Titans eventually, but it’ll be a new version. You’ll definitely see it in the show.” Jim Lee adds that…

DC Universe Renews TITANS for Season 2
A lot is riding on Titans, the first of several original shows for DC Universe. The series is also the first live action incarnation of the Teen Titans team, while it will take a far more mature tone than your usual DC show. However, DC is clearly confident in the series, to the point where it has already been renewed. At New York Comic-Con last night, DC announced that Titans has been renewed for a second season. This comes one week before the show officially premieres on DC Universe. Producer Geoff Johns confirmed at the panel that season two has been mapped out, and they already know what characters and…

TITANS Will Stream Internationally on Netflix; New Trailer Released
When DC Universe first launched, fans were quick to point out that it is only available in the United States. So, how will international viewers be able to watch original shows like Titans? Well, we finally have an answer. Netflix has acquired the international distribution rights to Titans. The service will stream the series in countries outside of the United States and China (where Netflix is unavailable). It’s unclear if Netflix’s deal includes DC Universe’s other originals, but it wouldn’t be shocking. Additionally, Netflix has released a full international trailer for the series, showing plenty of new footage. The trailer emphasizes on the team coming together, along with its dark…

We have a couple of big DC TV casting updates. DC Universe has found the titular hero of its next original series, while this year’s Arrowverse crossover now has a villain. The Goldbergs actress Brec Bassinger is set to star as Courtney Whitmore in Stargirl, a new show on DC Universe. The series revolves around Whitmore, a high school sophomore who is adjusting to a new school in Blue Valley, Nebraska. Along the way, she discovers that her stepfather used to be a superhero’s sidekick, and with a cosmic staff, she will inspire a new generation of heroes. Producer Geoff Johns had this to say about the casting. “There is no…

SWAMP THING Writer Teases Costume and Hard R-Rated Approach
For you that are unaware, DC Comics’ upcoming Swamp Thing show and recent Conjuring spinoff The Nun share screenwriters. But I guess that’s Nun of my business. During an interview with /Film, Gary Dauberman talks about Swamp Thing among some other stuff. He confirms that, just like Titans, the show will be rated R (and a hard one at that). They want to try and push it as hard as they can. He also confirmed that Alan Moore’s run of the creature is their main inspiration, and he mentioned that the creature will not be CGI but an actual suit. What do you think about this? Comment below and let…
