In today’s edition of TV News Bits, we have new details on Stargirl, The Flash, Iron Fist and more. Let’s get started! Our good friends at GWW dropped an exclusive on the Stargirl series. They learned that Wildcat will make an appearance during the show’s first season. Now, this isn’t the original Ted Grant version of the character. IRON FIST Season 2 Episode Count is Shorter than Usual for Marvel Netflix Shows
For the past few days, the Iron Fist Twitter account has sent out one tweet per day revealing an episode title from the show’s second season. Well, the tweets have ended, and they reveal something very interesting about the new season. Iron Fist season two will only have 10 episodes. With the exception of The Defenders (which ran for 8 episodes), this is the shortest Marvel Netflix season yet. Every season from the other five shows ran for 13 episodes. Krysten Ritter Will Direct an Episode of JESSICA JONES Season 3
Season three of Marvel and Netflix’s Jessica Jones recently began production in New York City. While new plot and casting details are currently under wraps, the show’s star will be taking on a new role this season. According to Deadline, series star Krysten Ritter is directing an episode of Jessica Jones this season. This marks the actress’s directorial debut. IRON FIST Season 2 Will Arrive This Year
Production recently wrapped on Iron Fist‘s second season. While a lot of details are still under wraps, it looks like the new season will be out sooner than expected. During a Reddit AMA, Marvel television head Jeph Loeb confirmed that Iron Fist season two is “coming this year.” Netflix has already released Jessica Jones season two this year, with Luke Cage‘s second season arriving later this month. And while a date isn’t confirmed yet, it was announced previously that Daredevil season three is also coming this year. AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Shifting to Summer for Season 6
Despite being one of the network’s lowest-rated shows, ABC renewed Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a sixth season. The new season will run for 13 episodes, which is a much smaller order than the usual 22. While it was originally reported to be held until midseason, it turns out we’re gonna have to wait even longer. ABC announced at Upfronts today (via TV Line) that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. won’t be back until summer 2019. While Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has received solid buzz from fans and critics with each season, the show has had a decline in ratings for some time now. The fact that ABC placed this season in the dreaded Friday night slot didn’t help any. THE GIFTED Shifts to Tuesday Nights Next Fall; GOTHAM’s Final Season Held Until Midseason
Fox has unveiled its schedule for the 2018-2019 season, just in time for its Upfronts presentation. X-Men-inspired drama The Gifted will air on Tuesdays at 8 PM EST for its second season. The show previously aired on Mondays at 8. The series was renewed earlier this year in the midst of its well-received first season. Last night, Fox renewed DC’s Gotham for a fifth and final season.
