Scott Derrickson Finalizes Deal to Direct DOCTOR STRANGE Sequel
Despite the success of 2016’s Doctor Strange, Marvel has been slow to give any details on a potential sequel, except that it is happening. Since then, Strange has become a recurring character in the MCU, including a show-stealing role in Avengers: Infinity War. Now, the Sorcerer Supreme’s next film is moving forward. Director Scott Derrickson has finalized a deal to return for the Doctor Strange sequel. A writer is currently being sought. BLACK PANTHER Receives Best Picture Drama Nomination at the Golden Globes
Marvel Studios has been pushing an awards campaign for Black Panther, which has the rare legitimate shot of receiving big nominations at the Academy Awards and other ceremonies. The campaign has received a major victory, as the 2019 Golden Globes nominations have been announced. Black Panther has been nominated for the Best Motion Picture – Drama award. This is the first superhero movie in history to ever get a nod in that category. DAREDEVIL Has Been Cancelled by Netflix
Netflix’s severance of its relationship with Marvel continues. After cancelling Iron Fist and Luke Cage, the streaming platform has now ended its original Marvel series. Daredevil has been cancelled after a three-season run. The show premiered its critically acclaimed third season just last month, and fans have been anxious for a fourth season.
