THE BATMAN Now Eyeing a November Production Start
Last we heard on The Batman, writer-director Matt Reeves said that he was hoping to start shooting in the spring or summer of 2019. Then, we received word that Warner Bros. is in no rush to release the movie, so it could be until 2021 or later before it hits theaters. Basically, Reeves and the studio want to take all the time needed to perfect the script before camera begin rolling. Now, we have a new production update. In The Hollywood Reporter‘s first Heat Vision newsletter of the year, writer Borys Kit shares a tidbit on The Batman. Apparently, the studio is now wanting to start filming in November of…

The CW Sets Pilot Order for BATWOMAN
Ruby Rose’s Batwoman made her debut in the three-part “Elseworlds” Arrowverse crossover on The CW. Along the way, they meet Kate Kane, aka Batwoman, who has become Gotham’s new vigilante after the mysterious disappearance of Batman (and Bruce Wayne). Before “Elseworlds,” it was reported that The CW had plans for a Batwoman spinoff series. Now, it’s moving forward. The CW has issued an official pilot order for Batwoman, written by Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries). David Nutter will direct; he previously helmed the pilots for Smallville, Arrow, and…

THE PUNISHER Season 2 Gets a Premiere Date and First Promo Trailer
Marvel’s The Punisher was a hit on Netflix back in 2017, with a second season being ordered shortly afterwards. Now, marketing has finally begun, as Netflix has announced the premiere date for season two. Spoiler: It’s going to be very soon. The Punisher season two will be released on Friday, January 18th. To announce the date, Netflix released a promo trailer featuring Frank Castle and returning foe Billy Russo, who has a new look after his facial injuries in season one. The new season comes at a time where Netflix’s Marvel future is looking incredibly bleak. Last year, the company cancelled Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Daredevil. This only leaves…

AQUAMAN is a Pulp Fiction Comic Book Movie
I do not lightly say that Aquaman is a Homeric epic, a paragon of Pulp Fiction storytelling, a complete hero’s journey. It would be so simple to call it another superhero movie following the established procedures set by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, Christopher Nolan’s Batman, or Fox’s X-Men universe. Instead, what is presented is a story told often in comic books, The Pulp Fiction swordsman of Camelot. It follows in the footsteps of The Mummy, Indiana Jones, The Princess Bride, Star Wars, Buck Rogers, Errol Flynn and all the dashing swordsmen who graced the comic book pages of the early 1920s and 30s. In many ways, the…

Anime Review – THE HEROIC LEGEND OF ARSLAN Season 1
Based on the manga/novel by the same name, The Heroic Legend of Arslan (or Arslan Senki as it’s also known) follows Arslan, the crown prince of Pars, who one day needs to flee his kingdom when a neighbor manages to seize the capital. With the help of his bodyguard Daryun, Arslan meets more allies along the way in his quest to get his country back and save his mother and father. This anime is something that has been on my radar for quite some time due to Hiromu Arakawa, who is the mangaka of the manga adaptation for a novel series written by Yoshiki Tanaka. If the name Hiromu Arakawa…

AQUAMAN Surfs Past $800 Million; $1 Billion Worldwide Imminent
DC Films’ Aquaman continues to overperform at the box office, and today, it has passed a key milestone that sets it on track for a new high in the franchise. Aquaman has now surpassed Wonder Woman as the second highest grossing DC film worldwide, with $822.9 million. This includes a massive $606 million from overseas. The only title that has made more is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which grossed $873 million in 2016. However, at the rate it’s going, Aquaman will soon surpass that one. Not only that, but it will reach a milestone met by few comic book movies, especially from DC. Assuming that the film continues…

5 Characters We Need in Young Justice: Outsiders
Young Justice has a huge cast of characters, but one of the best parts of the series is how they have different teams working together. Enough though we’ve had dozens of young heroes in the past, there are still a few more that we would love to see. Here are the five characters we want to see in Young Justice: Outsiders! 5. Damian Wayne (Robin) The first season of Young Justice starts with Dick Grayson, the first Robin. Jason Todd dies in between season one and two, and Tim Drake is Robin is season two. It would make perfect sense for the third season to feature the third Robin. Damian Wayne…
