MY HERO ACADEMIA Recap: Deku Unlocks Blackwhip!
For this week’s episode, The Amateur Otaku is joining forces with no other than Geekly Goods‘ own Leo Rydel. Deku awakens blackwhip and unleashes an incredible burst of power. What does this mean for his future, and will Uraraka be the hero to save heroes? We discuss! It is an amazing episode filled with Al Pacino references, bad musical numbers on top of all the hype and speculation talk for this series going forward. We’re reviewing every episode of My Hero Academia so if you’ve missed our previous discussions check them out here!

Recap: ARROW S7 E8 – Unmasked
Oliver is finally out of prison! So does that mean things will finally get back to normal? Of course not, what do you this is? The Flash? No, Arrow is operating on a whole other level. We open this episode to see the new Green Arrow training, and yes it is a female like I called back in episode 4. Sea Shimooka plays the new GA but more on that later. So, Oliver is back home and is suffering from PTSD. He freaks out when Felicity walks in on him taking a shower, but considering what happened in prison, you can’t really blame him. Ollie is making his first public appearance…

Recap: ARROW S7 E7 – The Slabside Redemption
This is it. This is the episode we’ve been waiting for. The Slabside Redemption has one single focus. Oliver’s last day in prison. Once Diaz gets word of Oliver getting released and Diaz taking his place, he launches a one-man assault on Slabside. He starts a riot. Turning the prisoners against the guards with a very Braveheart-like speech. This is Oliver’s last stand. He can’t let these guards and even prisoners die. He needs to take down the entire prison. This is reminiscent of Batman: Arkham Asylum. Diaz locked Ollie in and there’s no one he can contact. He can’t trust Stanley after learning that he killed that guard from the…

Recap: ARROW S7 E6 – Due Process
As we get further along in the first quarter of the season, our main story starts to fall into place. This episode begins with Laurel visiting Oliver. She tells him everything that’s been going with his case. Ollie immediately dismisses Laurel, saying that she doesn’t care about anyone but herself, how Felicity would never work with Black Siren. Oliver’s been out of the loop for a few months, but his attitude is was uncalled for. Still, it’s a testament to how things have changed since he was locked up. After the disbandment of Level Two, Level One has upped its security. Stanley gets sent to The Hole for the murder of…

Recap: ARROW S7 E5 – The Demon
After the revelations from the last episode, we dive deeper into the workings of Level Two. Oliver sees just how twisted Dr. Parker’s practice is, plus we also meet an old friend. We learn that The Demon is none other than Talia Al Ghul, daughter of the demon. Pretty easy call but cool none the less. Especially considering she was left for dead at the end of season 5. The two have to set aside their differences and work together and escape. This is a simple episode but it’s tons of fun. We have three stories going. Ollie and Talia breaking out of Level Two, Curtis regaining his fighting spirit,…

Recap: ARROW S7 E4 – Level Two
After the events of the last episode, Ollie and moved on to stage two of the supermax prison. Level Two is where they keep the most dangerous criminals. Ollie went there with the hopes of finding The Demon. Things did not go as planned. Ollie meets this man named Dr. Jarret Parker, he seems to try and break down his patient’s psyche. He’s confronting Oliver, telling us that all of his issues start with his father, Robert Queen. We see flashbacks of season one where he tells Oliver to write his wrongs and gives him a list. Right before killing the man next to him and killing himself. This is…

Recap: ARROW S7 E3 – Crossing Lines
So we’re back with another Arrow review! Sorry for the delay but life got in the way. We’ll be using this holiday break to catch up. All reviews are going up as soon as I finished the episode. So I’m not caught up with current events (so episodes 4-6). It keeps things fun. I don’t want to review an episode and already know where the plot is going. So let’s talk about Crossing Lines. With Oliver in prison, Felicity has taken the fight against Diaz into her own hands. She wants to join forces with Agent Watson, the very person who ended Team Arrow last season. This time Diaz and…

Recap: ARROW S7 E2 – The Longbow Hunters
This week’s episode of Arrow pretty much continues the storyline on last week’s. We have Ollie in prison struggling to keep his ideals, Felicity wanting to take down Diaz, and Diggle leading a mission with A.R.G.U.S., oh and of course we can’t forget about our flash-forwards with Will and Roy. We do a bit more character work with our cast, with Oliver gone they have to find what their goals are, and how to operate as individuals. This mostly deals with Felicity. She is being consumed by her hatred of Diaz. She’s becoming desperate and it shows. We have Felicity at A.R.G.U.S. with Dig and Curtis. They essentially need to…

Recap: ARROW S7 E1 – Inmate 4587
Arrow is finally back! After a solid 5th and 6th season, Arrow seems to have found its groove. We pick up five months after the events of last year’s finale. Ollie is in prison and the rest of Team Arrow is trying to move on with their lives. With Ricardo Diaz still on the lose, the team is trying their best to bring him to justice, all while trying to do so within the confines of the law. Oliver has made plenty of enemies over the last seven years, with his identity revealed, a ton of the inmates want a piece of him. Unlike Barry Allen, Oliver’s time in prison is…

ARROW SEASON 6 Review
In the second half of Arrow season 6 (check out our mid-season review here), Team Arrow has an all-out Civil War. Cayden James is not the main villain as we previously thought. In a surprise twist, Ricardo Diaz rises to the forefront. Oliver loses his team’s trust (again), all while dealing with his impending impeachment. Arrow season 6 was a rollercoaster ride, but was it enjoyable? With Diaz taking over as head of the league of villains, we once again have an enemy that can go toe-to-toe with the Green Arrow. Oliver has decided to do this job solo after a huge (and a little contrived) falling-out with the team, including…
