New Cinematographer Hired for JUSTICE LEAGUE
Zack Snyder’s Justice League movie kicked off production yesterday. And while we don’t have a press release or new imagery just yet, we do know who the film’s cinematographer is. And no, it’s not Larry Fong. Director of photography Fabian Wagner will work on the cinematography for Justice League, according to his agency, Lux Artists. Wagner previously did the cinematography for episodes of Game of Thrones, as well as season two of Sherlock. Wagner replaces Larry Fong, who did the cinematography for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Fong cites scheduling conflicts on Twitter, but gives his blessing to Wagner. Will Smith Wants to See Deadshot Take Over as Batman for a Movie
Will Smith will make his debut as Floyd Lawton, aka Deadshot, in this summer’s Suicide Squad. After that, it’s unknown where his character will go. Deadshot has been rumored to appear in Ben Affleck’s Batman movie, while Smith is expected to return for a Suicide Squad sequel. There’s even the potential for Deadshot to headline his own spinoff movie. Now, Smith has weighed in on Deadshot’s future, but offers a completely different option for a story. At the MTV Movie Awards tonight, stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and Cara Delevingne debuted a brand new trailer for the next DC movie, Suicide Squad. Gary Oldman Weighs in on J.K. Simmons Playing the Next Commissioner Gordon
A few weeks ago, it was reported that J.K. Simmons was cast as Commissioner James Gordon in 2017’s Justice League, which begins shooting tomorrow. BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Grosses $23.4M in Third Weekend, Nearing $300M Domestically
This is the third weekend of release for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the Zack Snyder-directed film has (very) narrowly lost the top spot at the box office to new release The Boss. According to Variety, the comedy movie, starring Melissa McCarthy, grossed an estimated $23.5 million in its opening weekend. Meanwhile, Batman v Superman made $23.4 million – a mere $100,000 difference. Of course, these are just initial estimates, and with final numbers coming tomorrow, this could easily change. Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim has announced that the show’s season four finale has officially begun production. Titled “Schism,” the episode is written by Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle, based on a story by Greg Berlanti. John Behring is directing. It was previously announced that the episode will air Wednesday, May 25th on The CW. This will be the final episode of Arrow until the season five premiere, which will be sometime next fall. After meeting Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (set in the present day), the character’s standalone film will flash back a century to Diana Prince’s adventures during World War I. Surf’s Up for Two New BATMAN 66 Pop! Figures From Funko
One classic episode of the 1960s Batman show was “Surf’s Up, Joker’s Under.” In this episode, Batman and The Joker engage in a surfing contest, the Clown Prince of Crime’s latest attempt to take over Gotham. And now, Funko is extending its Pop! line for the series with two figures, both inspired by this episode. Funko’s Legion of Collectors has announced that “Surf’s Up Batman” and “Surf’s Up Joker” will hit stores in July. These are the latest Batman 66 Pops! to be released; previously, Funko debuted figures for Batman, Joker, Robin and Catwoman.
