But the studio’s latest move goes beyond that universe, promising a new take on the most iconic comic book villain. Following this week’s The Defenders, Marvel and Netflix’s next original series will star The Punisher himself. While Frank Castle never showed up in the ensemble miniseries, the finale did include a Punisher teaser after the credits. And now, Netflix has officially released the teaser. The trailer primarily focuses on Castle slamming the ground with a sledgehammer, intertwined with footage of him in action and glimpses of his tragic past. Per Box Office Mojo, Homecoming has grossed an estimated $314.1 million domestically and $410.8 million overseas as of this weekend. This brings its worldwide total to $724.9 million. FX has been on a roll with acquiring the rights to air big blockbuster movies on television. This week, the network added several more movies, including two of this year’s comic book movies. According to Deadline, FX has acquired the rights to Logan, the critically acclaimed swansong for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and Spider-Man: Homecoming, the new Sony/Marvel reboot of the Webhead.
